C-V2X, Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything, is one of the key technologies for vehicle intelligence and connectivity. Its communication interfaces are divided into PC5 direct communication interface and Uu cellular communication interface. The PC5 direct interface is used for communication between vehicles (V2V, Vehicle-to-Vehicle), vehicles and infrastructure (V2I, Vehicle-to-Infrastructure), and vehicles and pedestrians (V2P, Vehicle-to-Pedestrian). The Uu cellular communication interface is used for communication between vehicles and the cloud (V2N, Vehicle-to-Network). Based on the C-V2X cellular vehicular network, integrated vehicle-road-cloud warning alerts, assisted driving (C-ADAS), and autonomous driving (C-ADS) applications can be realized.
With the trend of vehicle intelligence and connectivity, network attacks on vehicles are becoming more frequent. Under different network attack methods, users’ privacy may be compromised, and illegal C-V2X messages pose safety risks to vehicle operation. Therefore, C-V2X communication establishes a comprehensive information security protection mechanism. Secure storage of secret keys and certificates can be realized based on HED SE chips products. By signing and verifying communication messages, the integrity (i.e., immutability), availability (i.e., legitimate sources), and non-traceability (i.e., anonymity) of communication data are ensured. This prevents network attacks, protects user privacy, and ensures driving safety.
Introduction of Sloution
Under the C-V2X direct communication scenario, the C-V2X OBU needs to sign the message sent by the vehicle and verify the received messages to validate their legitimacy. Therefore, for security purposes, it is necessary to securely store the keys and certificates related to the operation and perform secure computations on the messages. The program provides security services for the system by integrating HED SE chips products on C-V2X OBU to realize its security needs. The hardware structure is as shown in the figure below:
With the secure computation services provided by the SE, considering the varying cryptographic computation capabilities of the current AP on the C-V2X OBU, SE needs to provide cryptographic security services with different performance levels. This means the SE can provide both signing and high-speed verification services, or just signing services.
